About TampaBuildingCode.com
TampaBuildingCode.com is an independent reference site on building permits and codes in Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco counties, Florida. It is not a government website.
What we cover
- Who issues building permits in each of the 36 cities, towns, and unincorporated areas in the three counties, with official contact details.
- Florida rules that apply everywhere: the Florida Building Code, Notice of Commencement, private providers, owner-builder permits, the FEMA 50% rule, ADUs, and short-term rentals.
- Interviews with licensed contractors and building professionals working in the area.
How we check facts
Every fact is marked Verified, Unverified, or Not yet researched. Verified facts match an official source: a building department's own website, Florida Statutes, the Florida Building Code, or federal regulations. Each shows its source link and the date checked. Secondary sources can point us to a fact, but they cannot verify it. We do not reproduce code text. See our Corrections Policy to report an error.
Independence and disclosure
We do not accept payment to add, remove, or change code or jurisdiction information. Construction Corps, Inc. (CGC1530192), a design-build general contractor in Clearwater, is affiliated with the owner of this site and appears as a Featured Contractor. See our Disclaimer.
